Are the backs of your stitching nice and neat or a rat’s nest? Is the neatness or lack thereof something you even spend time thinking about?
Post a picture or 2 of your projects’ backsides.
Having been a model stitcher for a few years now, backs are important to me. My backs haven’t always been as neat as possible, but I’ve learned a lot about being very careful, not carrying threads too far, stitching in the right color order, etc. As a result, a lot of my backs look nearly as good as the fronts. Not as good as Mayte’s backs, but then I’m not sure I’ve ever seen another stitcher in the world whose backs look as flawless as hers! I don’t have a lot of photos of my backs, but I have done scans of the backs of some of the models that I’ve stitched.
First up is Lizzie*Kate’s 2005 Flip-It April Stamp:
And the second example is Crossed Wing Collection’s Blended Backgrounds: Chickadee No. 2:
I think my backsides are normally pretty neat, but then it does depend on what I plan to do with the piece and whether or not I’m giving it away or if I plan to keep it for myself. If the back side will not be seen and/or if I’m planning to keep it for myself then I’m probably not as neat!
Hope you are having a great Memorial Day weekend!
I know my backs are not that neat, but I’ve never really cared. And I think I will continue not to care as long as no one gets to see them! LOL (not that I don’t tuck or I carry things too far, as far as I can tell).
I think your backs look better than my fronts, though *harumph* Lol
I keep meaning to start responding to this meme – this is the question which first caught my eye! Your backsides are lovely and neat. I used to care, but then I gave up and started concentrating more on the front.
Your backsides look almost as pretty as your fronts, Jenna! Love that chickadee 🙂
I’m a bit of a stickler with my backs as well 😮
I’m generally fairly pleased with the back of my stitching – but you’ve got me beaten by a long ways, Jenna!! 😀
Goodness! The back is neat as a pin : ) You are a very talented stitcher!
Thanks for your e-mail re. the biscornu pattern … it looked so familiar to me & my mind would not cooperate. I HAVE THAT SAME PATTERN by Sweetheart Tree. It is on brown paper with part of the design on the back. Something like c.1995. Took me awhile to ‘unearth’ it in my mess of stuff.
I just love what you did with it!!!
Now, I think I have a good idea of a good size for biscornu. Thanks a million
Neatness! 😮
I think I’ll keep my backsides hidden for couple of years still… 😛
