Dummy me didn’t actually take the bulb with me to JoAnn, even though I know that I should have, but fortunately, I guessed correctly. They don’t seem to necessarily sell the light that I have anymore, but they had a clamp-on version that looked basically the same and I went off of the bulb that used, to be sure. Otherwise, I could have still made a reasonable guess, as the base of the bulb that mine uses is different from the others available. Turns out, the bulb for my lamp is the same as the bulb for my portable, so I could have kept on stitching on Saturday, had I switched out the bulbs. Oh well! Lesson learned. Those bulbs are expensive, though. I wish I had had a 40% off coupon with me, so the $30 bulb would have been much cheaper. But alas, I do not seem to get the JoAnn circulars, nor is it worth me trying to sign up again (I think this would be the third time) when I rarely actually get to the store.
While I was there, I perused the clearance aisle and picked up a package of clear rubber stamps that I can use for cards. I want to try my hand at some of these beautiful cards that people like Von and Christine make, although I don’t have the pretty printed papers that they use. I want to see if I can make it up a bit as I go along and come out with a product that’s half-way decent. In my spare time, though. When I’m not sleeping during the weekday evenings and stitching on the weekends. ๐
Yeah, the bulbs are expensive (or so I’ve heard) but since they last so long, it works out doesn’t it?
Wow, thanks for the compliment, Jenna!! I can’t take the credit for a lot of my cards because I go to workshops where the demonstrator has designed the card and we just put them together. They are really fun to make though. Most of my stuff is Stampin’ Up but you can find a lot of lovely scrapbooking papers that can be used for cards at dollar stores and the like. Michael’s carries a lot of stuff, too.
As much fun as I have with card making, stitching is truly my favourite hobby.
Which light do you use?
If you sign up again with Joann’s I have found that I have to use the coupons to keep them coming. I didn’t once for a while and they stopped. But even now I will pop in from time to time just to grab a little something and use my coupon. (Yeah even a less than 30รยข thread!)
I still get them, if you still can’t get the right one let me know (email me) and I will see what my Joann’s has, online even…….
You should be able to use the Michael’s and AC Moore coupons that come in the Sunday paper at Joann’s. I’ve never had a problem using coupons from either of those stores.
You can also sign up at Joann.com for their newsletters, or whatever they call them, and they often send out e-coupons that you can print out to use at the store. That way you don’t collect so much paper around the house!
Thanks for your kind words about my cards. Like Christine I must tip my hat to my Stampin’ Up friend and to so many stampers online who often spark an idea. So welcome to the wonderful world of papercrafting! It’s another fun way to play with color and texture. ๐
