Ack! Bad Saturday…

Went to bed with a headache last night, woke up with a headache this morning. Had trouble getting rid of it and once I finally did, my stomach decided to revolt.

Somehow, in the midst of all of this, I managed to stitch on the model I’m working on and my second iteration of this month’s Christmas ornament for the Chartswappers SAL. And sleep… a lot. Oh, and I finished the work I needed to do this weekend and am printing the results for a meeting first thing Monday morning.

My goal for the weekend is to finish stitching that Christmas ornament so that I can cross it off of my list and work on some of the other tons of projects waiting. Oh, and to either help or have Terry make a new lap stand for me since the one I bought the other day really isn’t working. That will help me work on my model. And, of course, my other goal is to feel better!

Yay, It’s Friday!

And a pretty busy one, at that. To the point where I still need to do even more work this weekend. Ugh!

In the meantime, though, we managed to cross a handful or so of things off of my “master list.” Of course, I’ll add more to replace those, but still… Left early this afternoon and went to finally get the tires replaced on the truck. Whew! I feel much better now. Then we stopped at Dick’s Sporting Goods for me to check for my Dad’s Christmas present. Couldn’t find it, so I had to order it online when we got home. Stopped at Bed, Bath and Beyond to look at air purifiers. Didn’t find that, either, but I did buy a set of springform pans for my friend Mary. Long story, but her 10″ springform pan recently became bottomless, so she needed a replacement. 🙂 Then, we stopped at Michael’s for a couple of items. Didn’t find most of what I needed there, either. Finally, we went to Lowe’s for another whole list, of which we managed to get nearly half. All in all, not bad, but not great, either. I’m just relieved to have new tires on the truck. Not cheap, but a load off of my mind. And we stopped squealing around every corner. Which is good because it made us sound like a bunch of speeding jerks.

Oh, and I gave Terry one of his birthday presents a few weeks early. It’s been bugging me since I found it. I knew he would love it, so I was totally itching to give it to him. So I did. 😀 And we’ll play it this weekend (The Simpsons Road Rage for Playstation 2). Now I’m outta here.

Not a Bad Wednesday

Today was not too bad for a Wednesday, surprising as that may seem. The hip pain seems to have eased, probably thanks to me studiously using proper posture, both feet on the floor when sitting, centering my weight evenly when standing, trying not to cross my legs, etc. last night for hours on end. Of course, Terry played XIII for hours last night, as well, which eventually gave me a headache and motion sickness – DOH! I took a bonine tonight just after he started playing. 🙂

So, total stitching geek that I am, I stitched last night while Terry was playing. I’m working some of the last motifs on a housewarming fingertip towel for a friend (a much-belated gift since she moved into her new place several months ago, but I haven’t seen the house yet so does that count?). I also started stitching the kloster blocks on the second installment for my half of the winter freebie exchange on Chartswappers.

I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed by the amount of stuff I need to do between now and Christmas, so in typical list maven fashion, I made a task list for myself. Not of everything that needs to be done in the next month and a half, of course, that would be insanely long and incredibly self-defeating. I’m really not entirely sure why making lists seems to help me deal with stressful situations, but it does so I guess I shouldn’t analyze it. 😛

Well, back to work so I can cross some more items off of my list. I’ve already hit three today, but considering that I started with 30, that’s only 1/10th. And, of course, the list will continue to grow over the next couple of weeks. ARGH!

Ouch!

I tell you, if it’s not one thing with me, it’s the other! 🙂 I’m finally feeling better today, if tired, and am hoping that this feeling holds through the week. However, in the place of whatever I’ve been fighting with for a while, I’m dealing with hip pain today. It started yesterday where every time I got up off of the sofa, my right hip would tweak and hurt like the dickens. Of course, I’m sure that the hour I spent working out to Dance Dance Revolution probably didn’t help the situation, but that seems to bother my knees more than my hips.

Anyway, here I am with pain radiating from my hip. Sheesh! And I have so much stuff to do at home before Christmas, it is not even funny! I thought that the amount of stuff I accomplished this past weekend was impressive, but it’s nothing compared to what’s coming … or so I hope. 😉

Weekend Happy Dances

Yes, that was plural – danceS. 🙂

I got a lot done this weekend! Yesterday, I worked on the stitching of this month’s ornament for the JCS SAL on Chartswappers. I also basted all of the guidelines onto the fabric for the model I’m getting ready to stitch and mounted it onto the scroll frame. Then, we cleaned the whole first floor except for carpet shampooing. Wow, what a cleanup we did, too! All of the boxes that we’ve been too lazy to break down and haul into the garage are now gone and I forgot how much bigger the rooms feel. LOL. We had friends from college, Karl and Renee, over last night for games, chit-chat and snacks (hence the cleaning frenzy). We had a great visit – it’s hard to believe we haven’t seen them in about a year! Sheesh, where does the time go?

Today, I stitched. I finished stitching the JCS ornament for this month. Then I ransacked the internet looking for appropriate freebie patterns for the Christmas/winter freebie exchange on Chartswappers. Being unable to decide what to do and in what form to finish it, I decided to stitch and finish the Teeny Tiny Noel Bag from The Victoria Sampler website just for the heck of it. I also found two projects previously stitched this year, both also from The Victoria Sampler website. Can you tell I’m a fan? 😀 I scanned both – the Heirloom Wedding Sampler freebie and the Pincushion Heart freebie.

More to come, as I get into the rushed stitching of the holidays! In the meantime, I’m still fighting off some sort of illness, so my blogging will probably continue to be hit or miss for a little while until I shake whatever it is. I should probably take a sick day, as I’m sure the stress at work isn’t helping any!

The Braces are Coming Off!

FINALLY! After nearly a year and a half of being in braces for the second time in my life, I’m scheduled to get them off on December 9th. Yeah, I know, for anyone who’s had braces, 1.5 years doesn’t seem so bad, but I was originally told 9-12 months. When you run this far over schedule, it seems like an eternity, trust me!

Sooooo, a major happy dance coming from my direction in one month and 4 days (and counting…). WOOHOO!

Thanks goodness it’s Friday. I’ve been fighting off illness all week and had an episode on Wednesday of my head not quite being connected to my body, during which I managed to slam a desk drawer shut on my hand because I didn’t realize it was in the way! I think maybe my body’s trying to tell me something? I’m exhausted!!! Sleep is at the top of my to do list for this weekend. 🙂

Bush Wins?

I refuse to comment on the election towards one side or the other. I just find it interesting that we have yet another close election. The one outcome I was hoping for last night was to have a very clear winner, no matter who it was. Too bad that didn’t happen!

Bathroom Update

Terry finished grouting the floor and grouted the countertop on Sunday. He also installed the new toilet bowl and tank. Yesterday we went to Lowe’s and picked up the remaining plumbing supplies needed to hook up the toilet tank and sink faucet to the water supply.

Other than installation of the trim (which hasn’t even been purchased yet, much less painted), the only other major work that needs to occur is the change in the bath fixtures. This requires Terry to cut into the wall of the closet in back of the bathroom to get to everything, after which he’ll install an access panel. In order for him to do this, I need to finish my reorganization of that closet so I can easily move everything out while he does his work. I’m guessing this won’t happen until the weekend, since I need to clean all of the garbage that I created in last week’s reorganizational frenzy out of the room before I can remove anything from the closet. 🙂

Avoiding Halloween

Well, we spent several hours tonight in a nearly completely dark house, trying desperately to avoid the trick or treaters who insist on coming up to our door, even though the lights are all out and the doorbell is disconnected. Terry even thinks he heard the first batch try the doorknob! Cheeky little fellows, aren’t they?

Our neighbor’s property was toilet papered last night. Glad it wasn’t us; that would have really ruined my mood to wake up to that this morning. 🙂

A productive day, even if I didn’t get my workout time on DDR. 😉 I still cleaned out half of the garden, threw away all of the dead hanging and other potted plants on the porch, took Phoebe for a walk, chatted with the guys across the street, made ranch cream cheese rollups for consumption some day this week, made dinner, did some dishes, took a picture of my Heirloom Memories sampler in progress and finished stitching an old project that I found the other day. I started stitching this purse kit for my mother several years ago (apparently, back when I wasn’t as fastidious a stitcher) and since there was only backstitching left to do, I decided to finish it for an additional Christmas present for her for this year. I finished the stitching tonight and posted a scan. I also posted a scan of the Heirloom Memories sampler. I haven’t touched it since earlier this week, but it’s still coming along nicely.

And I just received a new model stitching project this weekend – WOOHOO! I’m very excited about this one, as the colors are all my favorites and it’s my first hardanger model. Only problem is that I only have one set of scroll bars available and they’re not long enough, so I’ll have to run out (hopefully tomorrow) and buy another set. I could use an additional pair of side bars anyway; I only have two.

I have a presentation to give tomorrow that I haven’t really prepared for, so… that’s all folks!

Bathroom Update and Stitching

I’ll keep it brief today. Terry put down the mortar and installed the tiles on the bathroom countertop. Manufacturing quality issues with the tiles keep them from being completely perfect, but I should learn to deal with less than perfect anyway. Tomorrow may be grouting day.

In the meantime, I played over 30 stages of Dance Dance Revolution Max in workout mode. I received a new model stitching project today, so I unpacked and reviewed the chart and materials. I need to go and buy another scroll rod set, of course, since I have one set of bars open but they are too short. In the meantime, I’ve picked up an old Christmas project that I started years ago for my mom. I think it’s close enough for me to be able to complete it this year.

Well, a late dinner is calling and the dog is drooling.
